Twenty20 review

Twenty20 Finals day produced a feast of cricket, and our betting strategies are developing

Well you cannot get better than that for a sporting spectacle.

The Rose Bowl produced a superb pitch for Saturday's Twenty20 finals day, and some superb cricket was delivered by some outstanding talent.

In the final Rob Key and Owais Shah looked exactly what they are - a class above the county professional - but the pressure with such potential paydays exposed the players to a thrill that they have never experienced before. It was breathtaking and a joy.

For us as punters it worked out OK as well. Now I have long maintained there is a bit more hit-and miss about long term views in Twenty20, and preferred the laying of the big favourites during play as the game could turn round in one over. But in our preview of the competition I went with the teams who performed on finals day last year and favoured Kent, and with two balls to go they should have won!

But I also suggested in my finals preview that history favoured the winner of the second semi-final - normally an unheralded team and Middlesex duly delivered.

Overall then we can take heart and satisfaction from a brilliant day, some winnings and a load more games to crunch the numbers to further eductate ourselves on how to profit from Twenty20 cricket because one thing is for sure - there is going to be plenty of it on TV from now on!
