1. In a short-handed game a single Ace is often enough to raise with, and will win you money over time if you attack post-flop weakness with well- timed continuation bets. A half-pot bet will frequently be enough against a weak player that has checked to you.



 
2. It’s a particularly profitable move against players you have pegged as loose pre-flop callers. The average hand will miss the flop two-thirds of the time, so use your position and pre-flop strength to your advantage and rake in some pots.
