Women's World Open kicks off

The second annual PartyPoker.com Women's World Open begins today

The second annual PartyPoker.com Women’s World Open gets underway in London shortly and runs until Monday 6th October 2008. Follow the action at: http://www.matchroompoker.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3509#post3509

Recent additions include last year’s PartyPoker Dutch Open Champion, Maud Mulder, a television presenter and pop star from Holland, and Agnieszka Rylik, a Polish television presenter and champion boxer. Mulder overcome a field including the likes of Rob Hollink and Rolf Slotboom to win the PartyPoker Dutch Open last year, while Rylik busted the Devilfish and Joe Beevers in the last series of Late Night Poker and one was of the last people standing as one of Tony G’s team in the PartyPoker East versus West Team Cup in Vienna earlier this year.

The PartyPoker.com Women’s World Open II sees 36 players from across the globe battle it out for a share of a $108,000 prize-fund. The buy-in for the tournament is set at $3,000, with the eventual winner taking home a cool $50,000. Other players to look out for include Jen Mason, Late Night Poker finalist Maria Demetriou, Xuyen Bad Girl” Pham, former PartyPoker.com World Open winner Pippa Flanders, former European Ladies champion Jackie Meecham, Katharine Hartree, Mel Lofthouse, comedienne Lucy Porter, Michelle Orpe, Shelley Rubenstein, Christine Klecz and Stefanie Bergener.

Also taking her place at the table, and returning to defend her title, is last year’s champion Bev Pace. Bev, from Bromley, Kent, UK, is the wife of comedian and poker player Norman Pace. She triumphed over an in-form Jen Mason heads-up to scoop $50,000. Coverage of the event will be broadcast in the UK on Five next year and then distributed internationally. Commentary will be provided by Jesse May.
