The eighth freeroll in the Betfair Grand Prix was played on Monday evening 21 August 2006. There was a change again, in the Freeroll entry size, with the field extended to a possible 500 runners.

Freeroll 8 saw a good showing for the PokerPlayer posse, with 'Dicey' cracking into the points with a creditable 15th place and nine points. He was eventually knocked out by 'ludjd' who finished 4th, which means he's rocketed up the leaderboard. 'Dicey's' performance matches previous points finishes from 'Tallulah' and 'Shafty78' in earlier rounds.

Congratulations to 'impulse' who went on to win Freeroll 8, beating 'Washman' in heads up play. Special mention must also go to 'nowareman', who despite winning Freeroll 5, and qualifying for the Live Final, was back for more, finishing 3rd. A tactic perhaps, keeping those 32 points away from dangerous potential adversaries in the Live Final.

Apologies for the late appearance of the leaderboard, but here it is, and with only two dust-ups to go before the Live Final, things are tight and tense at the top.
