Online poker rooms generally classify a bad beat as nothing less than quad Jacks being beaten by four Queens, Kings, Aces or a straight fl ush. Most poker sites offer players a bad beat jackpot, usually to soften the blow of such a soul-destroying injustice in the event of its occurrence.

But by definition, a bad beat is when a premium hand is beaten by a lucky draw when a hand which is deservedly leading ends up losing the pot, after the massive underdog catches a specific card in the deck to take the pot down.

Please note that losing a 65/35 coin toss does not constitute a bad beat. If you think that a 2/1 advantage should go your way every time, you’ll spend your life on tilt.
