1. STEP 1
Make two short stacks of chips side by side (start with three or four per pile). Set your fingers in a ‘cage’, index and middle on the left stack, ring and pinky on the right.

 
2. STEP 2
Place thumb at the bottom of the right stack and lift slightly, squeezing gently inwards with fingers as you go. (NB: variations see the index or middle finger lifting.)

 
3. STEP 3
As you lift and squeeze (not too hard now), the two stacks should start to merge. Ease off the pressure and let them drop into place, guiding them upwards into shape.

 
4. STEP 4
Nonchalantly squeeze the interwoven chips together; split and repeat. If using two different chip colours, keep going until they resolve back into two neatly coloured stacks.

 
           
5. RESULT
Riffling your stack with magisterial poise, you will unsettle your opponents and skin them for all they’re worth. Tonight, my friend, the drinks are on you.
