1. Stand on 17

Trying to improve your hand when you're on 17 is too risky.  Remember - all you're trying to do is beat the dealer

If you get two Aces, a good idea is to split them and play two hands in the hope of getting at least one blackjack

You must view your cards in relation to the dealer's up-card.  Holding a 14 against a 5?  You should stand

Getting 11 is a great time to double-down and 'buy' a card - you've got a good chance of getting a ten
